On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Allegheny River Trail in Clarion County, (ARTinCC), I am pleased to announce that the Emlenton – Foxburg section of the Erie to Pittsburgh Trail is becoming a reality. Our present goal is to build the trail between Foxburg and Emlenton. This will provide open trail all the way from Parker to Titusville. Eventually we will work southward to complete the Erie to Pittsburgh Trail, realizing our part of the “Great American Rail-Trail” spanning the entire nation.
We have secured one mile of the trail corridor and are seeking construction permits so that we may begin fundraising for construction. The trail will begin with a one mile section starting at the Foxburg bridge going north, eventually closing the three mile gap between the two towns. Plans include a parking area and a Foxburg riverside park. We hope to preserve and improve the existing boat launch, if funds are sufficient, making this project attractive to kayakers and canoers as well. Construction costs and available funding will determine the final plans. Donations and equivalent volunteer work will help us qualify for significant matching funds as grants from government agencies.
This trail system will bring proven economic and health benefits to bikers, hikers, runners, cross country skiers, river sports and businesses in all of our communities. If you would like to support this effort with volunteer help, materials or a monetary donation, please complete and submit this “Friends of the Allegheny River Trail in Clarion County” form:
