[COOKSBURG, PA] The Sawmill Center for the Arts is pleased to announce its upcoming shows for the month of July.

The Punxsutawney Theatre Arts Guilde will perform “Around the World in 80 Days” July 5-7. Hold onto your seats for the original amazing race, featuring stampeding elephants, raging typhoons, runaway trains, and unabashed slapstick! Fearless adventurer Phileas Fogg has agreed to an outrageous wager that puts his fortune and his life at risk.

July 12-14, the Oil City Community Playhouse will present “Everything I Ever Needed to Know I Learned in Kindergarten.” This play is based on the popular book by Robert Fulghum and features some of the brilliantly simple rules we learned as small children. These principles are presented through monologues, dialogues and multiple-actor scenes. Combined, they are a wonderfully funny, insightful and heartwarming look at what is profound in everyday life.

The Knox Community Theater is up next – July 18-21 – with “The Saloon Keeper’s Daughter.” The audience will cheer, hiss and boo – all on cue – in this musical romp through melodrama land.

Rounding out the month will be the Reitz Theater’s performance of “Shakespeare’s R&J” by Joe Calarco July 26-28. Four young prep school students – tired of going through the usual drill of conjugating Latin and other tedious school routines – decide to vary their very governed lives. One student breaks out a copy of Romeo and Juliet, and they all become swept away, enmeshed in the emotion. Their lives begin to parallel those of the book’s characters, and two eventually emerge as Romeo and Juliet, bringing a whole new dimension to the proceedings.

All shows are $15 per seat and begin at 8 p.m. Tickets are available online at www.sawmill.org or by calling the theatre’s box office at (814) 927-5275.
