CLARION, Pa. – The Clarion athletics department, in conjunction with Stretch Internet, announce today an expansion of its broadcast offerings with the launch of Clarion Golden Eagle Vision, an app that will allow fans to watch Golden Eagles athletics contests on the streaming device of their choice.
Fans will still be able to watch live and on-demand events free on desktop computers and mobile devices through the official Clarion portal on Stretch Internet. No changes are being made to these offerings.
The addition comes in the creation of an “over-the-top” (OTT) app for streaming devices. The Clarion Golden Eagle Vision app is available as a free download for Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Android TV and Roku devices. Fans with any of these devices can download the free app and watch live and on-demand Clarion athletics content directly on their televisions without needing to connect to a computer or cast from a mobile device.
“The addition of Clarion Golden Eagle Vision is going to be a major benefit to all fans of Clarion athletics,” said Sean Fagan, the university’s Sports Information Director. “We are always looking for steps we can take to reach more fans and improve their relationship with the athletics department. With this app, fans will be able to watch their favorite Golden Eagle teams in a way that is much simpler and more visually appealing.”
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the people working at Stretch Internet for the work and time dedicated to making this possible,” Fagan said. “They have been our streaming partner for over a year and in that time they have delivered to us excellent service and support, and this situation is no different. Stretch is an important part of the connection we have with our fans.”
To download the app, fans should search for “Clarion Golden Eagle Vision” in the respective app stores for their devices.
Clarion Athletics began video streaming home contests in September 2016, starting with volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, and wrestling at Tippin Gymnasium. Technological improvements made at Memorial Stadium in 2017 allowed for live broadcasts of football and women’s soccer contests, as well, and plans to expand to cover baseball and softball in Spring 2018 are also in the works. During the 2016-17 school year Clarion Athletics produced 44 live video broadcasts via Stretch Internet, which also serves as the platform for live stats for all Clarion home events. This year Clarion has already produced 31 live video events.
