Mary M. Cook
Mary M. Cook, of Clarion, passed away on February 16, 2018 at Penn Highlands Brookville Hospital. She had recently been a resident at Highland Oaks at Water Run Landing. Mary was 87 years of age.
Born on January 31, 1931 in Unionville, Centre County, PA, she was the daughter of the late Rudolph Clarence, “R.C.” and Anna Mary (Hall) Williams. In 1965, she married Leo Henry Cook, who preceded her in death in 1999. Mary enjoyed a long career in banking and eventually retired after becoming a vice-president and executive in mortgage lending.
She attended the First Presbyterian Church in Clarion. Mary enjoyed bird-watching, reading, and taking rides and going on adventures whenever possible with her family. She was an excellent cook and baker, well-known for her Christmas cookies and pies.
Mary is survived by her nieces and nephews, her family that loved her dearly, Dr. Virginia and John Wimberley, of Tuscaloosa, AL, Suzanne and Tom Shaw, of Phoenix, AZ, John and Kendra Schreffler, of Shippenville, PA, Marianne Schreffler, of Lafayette, LA, and Stefanie and Terry White, of Strattanville, PA.
She will also be fondly remembered by her great-nieces and nephews, Roy Schreffler, Jr., of Knox, PA, Megan Wimberley, of Suzuka, Japan, Dr. Christopher Shaw, of DuBois, PA, Alice Shaw, of Phoenix, AZ, and Rachel & Felicia White, of Strattanville, PA. Her close friends and neighbors, the Walters Family, of Clarion, who watched out for her, will also miss her dearly.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother, John E. Williams and wife Charlotte; her sister, Alice Louise Williams Schreffler and husband Roy; a brother-in-law, Lewis Cook; an aunt, Grace Hall; and a nephew, Roy Schreffler.
Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory in Clarion. As per Mary’s expressed wishes, there will be no public visitation, and private services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in the Oak Ridge Cemetery, Centre County.
