Walter Paul Neal

Walter Paul Neal of Strattanville passed away on August 30, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family following a lengthy illness.  He was 76 years of age.

Born on March 1, 1941 in Sligo, he was the son of Jay and Goldie (Best) Neal.  He attended Clarion-Limestone schools.

In 1962, he married Karen Louise Ryan and she preceded him in death on August 24, 2006.

He worked for many companies and individuals during his life, including DuPont Homes, the A&P Grocery Store, Clarion Office Equipment, Siegel Coal Company, R.E.M. Coal Company, Carter Plumbing, Electric & Heating, Bi-Lo, Walt Chapman, and George Kossman, to name a few.

He is survived by his children, Katrina Neal Farnham and husband Rick, of Strattanville and Denny Neal and wife Kim (Reed), of Sigel; his grandchildren, Matt Young, of Shippenville, Keri Lowry, of Fort Sill, OK, Cody Young, of Strattanville, and Amber Neal, of Sigel; and his nieces and nephews, Melissa Brownlee, Leah Deiner, Jay Neal, Becky Neal, Chrissy Schill, Hillary Truitt, and Tammie Mong.  He will also be missed by his great-grandchildren, Lydia Smith, Rosa Young, Maddox Young, and Brantley Wade Lowry.

In addition, he is survived by his sister, Florence “Flo” Neal Young and husband Frank, of Brookville, sister-in-law, Donna Ryan Schill and husband Vince, of Strattanville, and sister-in-law Kathy Ryan, also of Strattanville.

There will be many friends and neighbors throughout the community that will miss our Dad.  Mary Elmer was a special hospice nurse that helped Dad and our family so very much, thank you.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother Jim Neal, and a sister-in-law, Elaine Neal.

Our father was part of the Strattanville Cub and Boy Scout Troup 49.  Dad also belonged to the Strattanville Volunteer Fire Department and Fire Police.  Mom and Dad loved country line dancing.  Our father also enjoyed working on lawn mowers, weed eaters and other small engines.  He really enjoyed mowing two neighbor’s yards, as well as the Baptist Cemetery in Strattanville.
